Musicians presented the piano compositions of Santiago de Masarnau on Monday
Performers presented several pieces by the 19th-century pianist Santiago de Masarnau at the Hotel Santo Mauro through a triple CD titled Piano Works. The event included performances of his compositions for two and four hands.
Martín Llade, a journalist for Radio Nacional de España and classical music specialist, described Masarnau as an artist, a wise man, and a saint. Llade noted that Masarnau's name survived through his spiritual work and commitment to the poor. Masarnau founded the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul in Spain, an institution that had been operating in France since 1833. According to Llade, Masarnau viewed music as a spiritual necessity that led him to charitable action.
