Santuário de Fátima launches credential for pilgrims on foot with social purpose
The Sanctuary of Fátima introduced the Via Pacis: Peregrinação a Pé a Fátima, a new official certificate and credential for pilgrims walking to Cova da Iria. The program, presented by rector Father Carlos Cabecinhas, recognizes the entire walking experience rather than just the arrival at the sanctuary.
To receive the certificate, pilgrims must complete a minimum distance of 13 kilometers. The document includes a QR code that links to a website page containing prayer texts to accompany the journey.
The certificate costs 2 euros, with 1.5 euros of that amount going directly to charitable causes. The association Acreditar, which supports parents and friends of children with cancer, will be the first institution to receive these funds.
