Schoenstatt sisters celebrate centenary
Archbishop Cushley celebrated a Mass of thanksgiving at Campsie Glen on Saturday to mark the centenary of the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary. The religious community was founded in Germany in 1926 by Father Joseph Kentenich.
Bishops Hugh Gilbert OSB of Aberdeen, William Nolan of Glasgow, and Joseph Toal of Motherwell joined the Archbishop, priests, and sisters for the celebration. The sisters have operated in Scotland since 1962 and have managed the Ballencleroch House estate in Campsie Glen since 1987. The site includes a Marian shrine dedicated to Mother Thrice Admirable, which opened in 1989, and a retreat and conference centre opened in 1995.
Sister Mary-Elsbeth, who manages the daily operations of the centre, thanked supporters for their contributions to the community and its mission in Scotland.
