Sister Sheila McNiff showed LA (and the world) what faith in action looks like

Sister Sheila McNiff, SHCJ, died on August 13 at age 88 after serving 67 years as a Sister of the Holy Child Jesus.

According to Heidi Johnson, Sister McNiff worked within the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and served various communities as an educator, principal, therapist, administrator, advocate, and pastoral minister. Her service included working with children in Pasadena, underserved students in Reseda, immigrants, refugees, and survivors of clergy sexual abuse. She also served 500 girls at a boarding school in Nigeria.

Fellow sisters described her spirituality as practical, noting that she focused on finding ways to meet the specific needs of others.
