Sisters of St. Joseph Week of Service

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Nine volunteers concluded the Sisters of St. Joseph Week of Service by assisting residents at L’Arche Wavecrest in Orange. The weeklong event, organized by the St. Joseph Justice Center from Sept. 19 to 26, included a project to create decorations for the upcoming St. Joseph’s Christmas festival.

The festival features a Christmas market and music to benefit children at CHOC Children’s Hospital. L’Arche Wavecrest also hosts an annual Festival of Lights.

Damaris Molena-Morales, the program coordinator for the St. Joseph Justice Center, said the event allows volunteers to work with new and returning participants while partnering with community organizations. Beyond the craft project, Molena-Morales noted the importance of volunteers being present to listen and connect with the adults living with intellectual disabilities.
