St. Agnes, West Chester, Marks 100th Anniversary of Its Present Church
Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez celebrated Mass at St. Agnes Parish in West Chester on Oct. 18 to mark the 100th anniversary of its current church building. Pérez, who served as the parish pastor from 2009 to 2012, was joined by pastor Father Louis P. Bellopede, local clergy, religious, and parishioners.
The Gothic Revival church was dedicated in 1925 and was inspired by Henry VII’s Chapel at Westminster Abbey in London. While the parish was originally founded in 1793, the recent anniversary celebrations followed a project to refurbish more than 100 original kneelers that date back to the building's dedication.
