Cardinal Giorgio Marengo to ordain Anthony Corcoran as bishop of Kyrgyzstan

Cardinal Giorgio Marengo will ordain Anthony Corcoran as a bishop in Kyrgyzstan on September 29. Corcoran, an American Jesuit, has served for nearly a decade as the leader of a small Catholic community of a few hundred people in the Muslim-majority country.

Corcoran was born in Tucson, Arizona, on April 19, 1963. He attended Saint Andrew’s in Sierra Vista for his baptism before moving to Texas as a child. He is currently participating in training for new bishops organized by the Dicastery for Evangelization and the Dicastery for Bishops.
