Water, Livelihoods and Community take Centre Stage at Sadbhav Mahotsav 2026
The Society of Pilar recently organized Sadbhav Mahotsav 2026 at the Batim Village Panchayat Hall under the theme Valuing Water, Securing Tomorrow. The event brought together farmers, villagers, teachers, and students to promote water conservation, sustainable livelihoods, community harmony, and environmental awareness.
The program included an orientation on water conservation led by Tallulah D’Silva and an experiential learning session at Batim Lake. During a nature walk facilitated by D’Silva, Ahana Rao, Sachin Desai, and Kaushal Joshi, students observed the lake ecosystem, including local plants, birds, and insects. Upon returning to the hall, students discussed topics such as global warming, biodiversity, pollution, waste management, and the protection of natural habitats.
The Society of Pilar organized the event in collaboration with Fr. Agnel College of Arts and Commerce, the Tambdi Mati Foundation, Syamantak’s University of Life, the Goa College of Agriculture, the Directorate of Agriculture of the Government of Goa, and the Zonal Agriculture Office in Tiswadi. The day began at the Batim Church premises with a welcome from Fr. Elvis Fernandes.
