Sacred Heart

Dade City, FL

Sacred Heart Catholic Church serves the Saint Joe community and surrounding areas in Dade City, Florida. Founded in 1888 by German Catholic immigrants from Minnesota, the parish was named for the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The first Mass was celebrated on October 1, 1888, in a small frame building called the Jubilee Chapel, which also served as a school. Over the years, the community grew and the church underwent several changes, including the construction of a new church in 1978. Sacred Heart Cemetery, established in 1889, remains an important part of the parish's history.
