St. Patrick
Tampa, FL
St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tampa, FL, was established as a mission of Christ the King Parish in 1950 for Catholics living south of El Prado Blvd. The first Mass was offered at James Madison Junior High School Auditorium on December 3, 1955. Fr. David Cronin became the first pastor in November 1958, and Msgr. John Scully succeeded him in September 1959, later receiving a Papal Chamberlain title. The parish grew under his leadership, establishing programs and constructing St. Patrick Catholic School. Many improvements were made to the church during this time, including modifications to the social hall and additions of statues. Fr. Jim Angert, T.O.R., was installed as pastor in 2013, continuing the parish's growth and spiritual richness.
