Church of the Epiphany

Church of the Epiphany, located in San Francisco, California, began as a mission church under Saint John the Evangelist parish. Archbishop Patrick Riordan established it to serve growing European communities in the Crocker Amazon and Excelsior districts. The original wood frame building was dedicated on January 21, 1911, with a seating capacity of about three hundred people. In 1914, Epiphany became an independent parish. Father James Stokes served as the first pastor until 1922. Under Father Patrick Ryan's leadership, the church moved to its current location on Naples Street in 1923, increasing its seating capacity and accommodating a growing congregation. The parish has since grown to include various organizations and educational facilities, including a school opened in 1938.
