Saint Dominic Parish is located in San Francisco, California. The parish has a rich history dating back to the arrival of Dominicans in 1850. In 1863, the Dominican order purchased a city block bounded by Steiner, Bush, Pierce, and Pine Streets for $6,000. Construction began on the first Saint Dominic's church in 1872, which was blessed in 1873. Due to rapid growth, plans were made for a larger church, completed in 1887. After the 1906 earthquake, a temporary wooden church served until 1928, when the current building was dedicated.
