Five Wounds Portuguese National Parish
San Jose, CA
Five Wounds Portuguese National Parish has served the Catholic community of East San José since 1914. Founded by immigrants, it was originally built from materials salvaged from the Pavilion of Portugal at San Francisco's Panama-Pacific International Exposition of 1915. The church, located on East Santa Clara Street, features ornate altars and stained glass windows that reflect Portuguese heritage. It has hosted significant events like the Feast of the Holy Spirit since its dedication in 1919. Five Wounds continues to maintain old-world traditions and welcomes all parishioners.
