St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church

Shreveport, LA

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church is located at 522 E. Flournoy Lucas Road in Shreveport, Louisiana. Named after the first native-born American saint, the parish was established in August 1984. The church was founded by Rev. Calvin “Butch” Burleigh and celebrated its first Mass in October of that year in an auditorium at LSU-Shreveport. In March 1986, the parish purchased 10 acres to build a permanent home, which included the construction of the Family Life Center in 1987. The church has since grown significantly under various pastors, including Revs. David Richter and LaVerne “Pike” Thomas, who oversaw important expansions such as the Burleigh Center and additional religious education facilities.
