Holy Savior (St. Mary & Holy Savior Parish)
Ocean City, MD
St. Mary Star of the Sea Holy Savior Catholic Church, located in Ocean City, Maryland, was founded in 1875 as the first Catholic church in the seaside resort town. In 1877, Bishop Thomas A. Becker established a provisional chapel in a rented cottage, which served as a place for worship until a more permanent structure could be built. Today, the site of this original chapel is occupied by Dolle’s Candyland and the Cork Bar on Atlantic Avenue and Wicomico Street. The parish continues to serve the community with liturgies and various ministries.
