St. Benedict

St. Benedict Catholic Parish is located in Ridgely, Maryland. It shares its history with St. Elizabeth’s Church in Denton, Maryland. The parish has roots tracing back to early colonial times when Jesuit missionaries ministered to Catholics on the Eastern Shore. In 1896, a new church dedicated to St. Benedict was built in Ridgely, replacing an older, smaller structure. The Benedictine Sisters became an integral part of the parish, providing religious education and support. Over the years, the parish has undergone several renovations and expansions, including additions to its facilities and a significant refurbishment in 2011.
