St. Dennis

St. Dennis Catholic Church is located at 153 N. Main Street in Galena, MD. The parish traces its origins to the establishment of St. Francis Xavier's Mission in 1704 by Jesuit Father Matthew T. Sanders, who served the spiritual needs of Catholics across Kent County and into Delaware. Dennis J. McCauley, a native of Ireland, founded St. Dennis Parish in 1854, purchasing land near Galena for the construction of the original church. The parish continues to serve the community under the leadership of Fr. Pedro Manuel Chalacan Guerrero, who joined the ministry in June 2011 and is working to integrate into the local area.
