St. Elizabeth Catholic Church was founded in 1907 to serve the growing population on Wilmington's westside. The parish has welcomed people from various ethnic backgrounds since its inception. Established alongside an elementary school, which dates back to the parish’s founding, St. Elizabeth also opened a high school in 1940 and completed its current church building in 1946. Statues within the church represent saints from Italy, Ireland, Germany, Poland, as well as North and South America, reflecting the diverse heritage of its community. Today, parishioners come from surrounding neighborhoods and those who have moved away often return for the church and community connections. The parish continues to honor its legacy and spirit through ongoing involvement with its schools and open doors to all.
