Latin rite metropolitan archdiocese in the Marche region of Italy, with origins as a see in the 3rd century, raised to archdiocese in 1904 and to metropolitan rank in 1972. It took its current name in 1986 and is led by Archbishop Angelo Spina, appointed in 2017.

History

A Latin Church metropolitan see in the Marche region of Italy, Ancona-Osimo (Latin: Archidioecesis Anconitana-Auximana) has held its present form since 1986, when the Archdiocese of Ancona was united with the historical Diocese of Osimo. From earliest times the diocese has been directly subject to the Holy See, without intermediate authorities.
