The Metropolitan Archdiocese of Antsiranana in northern Madagascar was founded as the Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Madagascar in 1896 and elevated to a metropolitan archdiocese in 1958. Its suffragans are Ambanja, Mahajanga, and Port-Berge.

History
One of Madagascar's five metropolitan Latin archdioceses, Antsiranana heads its own ecclesiastical province while remaining subject to the missionary Roman Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. The archbishop's seat is the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Antsiranana, dedicated to the Sacred Heart. An Anglican Bishop of Antsiranana also exists, within the Church of the Province of the Indian Ocean.
