History

Rooted in the fourth century, the Diocese of Ascoli Piceno (Latin: Dioecesis Asculanus in Piceno) serves the Marche in central Italy. Though historically immediately dependent on the Holy See, it is today a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Fermo. In 2015 the diocese counted one priest for every 1,074 Catholics.
