The Archdiocese of L'Aquila is a Latin rite metropolitan see in Abruzzo, Italy, erected in 1257, raised to archdiocese in 1876, and made metropolitan in 1972 with suffragans Avezzano and Sulmona-Valva. Archbishop Antonio D'Angelo has led it since 2024.

Diocese of L’Aquila to host “Le pietre raccontano” conference on September 24, 2026
The Diocese of L’Aquila will host the sixth meeting of the "Le pietre raccontano" conference series on September 24, 2026. The event begins at 17.00 at the Istituto Superiore di Scienze Religiose “Fides et Ratio” in L’Aquila. The conference focuses on L’Aquila as the Italian Capital of Culture 2026. Speakers include Massimo Sericola and Raffaele Daniele, the deputy mayor of L’Aquila. Archbishop Antonio D’Angelo and Daniele Pinton will host the meeting, which professor Gianluigi Simone will moderate. The discussion will address how the reconstruction of historical and artistic heritage can foster knowledge and participation following a historic seismic event.
