Cistercian territorial abbey at Mehrerau on the outskirts of Bregenz, Vorarlberg, directly subject to the Holy See and not part of the Archdiocese of Salzburg. Its abbot heads the Mehrerau Congregation of 21 Cistercian monasteries across Europe and the USA. Abbot Vinzenz Wohlwend, the 54th Abbot of Mehrerau, was appointed 23 November 2018.

History
At Mehrerau, on the outskirts of Bregenz in Vorarlberg, Austria, stands Wettingen-Mehrerau Abbey, a Cistercian territorial abbey and cathedral. Directly subordinate to the Holy See, the abbey forms no part of the Catholic Archdiocese of Salzburg, though its abbot sits on the Austrian Bishops' Conference. Officially the abbey is named Beatae Mariae Virginis de Maris Stella et de Augia Majore (Latin: Abbatia Territorialis Beatissimae Mariae Virginis Maris Stellae).
