History

Bangladesh's principal Latin metropolitan see is the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Dhaka (Latin: Archidiœcesis Dhakensis), no longer the country's only metropolitan see but still its senior one, and still dependent on the missionary Roman Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. The archbishop's seat is the Marian mother church, St. Mary's Cathedral, in the national capital Dhaka. Since his appointment by Pope Francis in September 2020, Bejoy Nicephorus D'Cruze, formerly Bishop of Sylhet, has served as Archbishop of Dhaka, as of 2020.

What is kept by invitation

The record above is published because it is public: what this see is, when it was erected, who holds its chair, and where it stands among its neighbours.

The working record is not. The chancery's address, telephone and email, the clergy of the see, and the hours of Mass, confession and adoration in the parishes within it are kept for members, and a person reads every request.
