Latin rite diocese in southwestern Bangladesh, erected 3 January 1952 as the Diocese of Jessore from the Archdiocese of Calcutta and the Diocese of Krishnagar, renamed Khulna on 14 June 1956. It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Chattogram, with its seat at St. Joseph's Cathedral in Khulna.

History
One of Bangladesh's two ecclesiastical provinces, Chittagong, includes the Latin suffragan Diocese of Khulna (Latin: Diœcesis Khulnensis), which remains dependent on the missionary Roman Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. Its episcopal seat is St. Joseph's Cathedral in the city of Khulna, Khulna Division. Bishop James Roman Boiragi, formerly a local priest, now leads the diocese, where many Italian priests, together with local priests and nuns, preach the word of God and give spiritual care to the parishioners.
