History

A metropolitan archdiocese of the Latin Church in Northern Italy, Bologna (Latin: Archidioecesis Bononiensis; Italian: Arcidiocesi di Bologna) keeps its cathedra in the cathedral church of San Pietro, Bologna. Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, installed in 2015, is the current archbishop. Three suffragan dioceses stand within its ecclesiastical province: the Diocese of Imola, the Diocese of Faenza-Modigliana, and the Archdiocese of Ferrara-Comacchio.
