  • Diocese of Carpi launches fundraising for Nepal

    The Caritas offices of the Diocese of Carpi and the Diocese of Modena-Nonantola are collecting donations to assist people affected by flooding in Nepal. The fundraising effort follows a massive flood in the Rasuwa district on August 26, which the Diocese described as one of the worst natural disasters in recent years for the region. According to the Diocese of Carpi, the disaster affected 32,963 people, resulted in 1,369 confirmed deaths, and left 5,132 people missing. The floods also injured 7,474 people and forced thousands of families into evacuation centers. Damaged infrastructure and difficult terrain continue to make it hard for aid to reach isolated communities. Donations will support Caritas Italiana as it coordinates with Caritas Nepal to plan relief efforts. Caritas Italiana is currently prioritizing mental health and psychosocial support to help children, adults, and vulnerable groups recover from trauma, while also assisting Caritas volunteers and workers. Supporters can contribute via online donation, bank transfer, or postal account number 347013, noting "Alluvione Nepal" on the transaction.

  • Diocese of Carpi begins reconstruction of post-earthquake buildings

    The Diocese of Carpi has started reconstruction work on the pieve di Quarantoli in Mirandola. A temporary association of companies consisting of Montanari Luigi srl and Marmiroli srl won the contract, with the start of construction scheduled by the end of September. The diocese is currently conducting a bidding process to select a contractor for the church of San Francesco d’Assisi in Carpi. Companies must submit technical and economic offers by October 9 following upcoming site inspections. Meanwhile, technicians are completing the documentation for the executive project at the parish church of San Possidonio to prepare it for submission to the commissioner's office.
