• Diocese of Cajazeiras promotes awareness with leaders and ministers in Itaporanga-PB

  The Diocese of Cajazeiras held a meeting on September 26, 2026, to introduce the Caminhando em Unidade project to leaders and extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion at the Nossa Senhora da Conceição Parish in Itaporanga. The project, which Bishop Francisco de Assis Gabriel dos Santos, C.Ss.R. has accepted, aims to coordinate the efforts of the Elderly Pastoral Care and the extraordinary ministers of communion to support and care for elderly people in the diocese using the national methodology for elderly pastoral care. Priest Walter Anacleto and Priest Marcos Vinícius welcomed the training commission, which included Priest Rodolfo Cavalcante, Luiz and Leni Nobre, and PPI leader Dinha. During the meeting at the parish pastoral center, Father Anacleto spoke about the need to strengthen the Church's social work in the diocese by improving the care and appreciation of elderly residents.

• Diocese de Cajazeiras holds Abraça Jovem in Coremas and Riacho dos Cavalos

  The Diocese of Cajazeiras held two Abraça Jovem gatherings on September 19 and 20 for youth from the Pombal and Catolé do Rocha deaneries. These events are part of the diocese's 2026 Year of Youth. The first gathering took place in Coremas on Saturday, September 19. Participants from local parishes began at the São Pedro and São Paulo Chapel and walked to the Santa Rita de Cássia Parish Church. Bishop Francisco de Assis Gabriel dos Santos, C.Ss.R., joined priests Igor Duarte, Francisco Júnior, and local pastor Francisco Alves for the event. The program included a dialogue with the bishop, preaching, and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, followed by a Mass celebrated by Father Francisco Júnior. The second gathering occurred in Riacho dos Cavalos on Sunday, September 20, for the Catolé do Rocha deanery. Hundreds of young people participated in a procession led by the Cefas Community. The event included music by DJ Damião Jr. from Obra Alégrate and concluded with a Mass presided over by Bishop Francisco de Assis Gabriel dos Santos and concelebrated by Father Thiers Queiroga, Father Igor Duarte, and Father Francisco Júnior.

• Dom Francisco names 7 members of Diocese of Cajazeiras' Ecclesiastical Chamber

  Bishop Francisco de Assis Gabriel dos Santos appointed seven members to the Ecclesiastical Chamber of Procedural Instruction for the Diocese of Cajazeiras by decree. The new members will assist ecclesiastical tribunals and the bishop in matters involving Church justice. The appointed members include Father Damião Nunes as auditor and coordinator, and Father Moisés Alves Pereira as auditor. Father Francinário Linhares da Silva, Father Sebastião Neto, and Father Gustavo Ferreira will serve as notaries, while Vicente Félix de Moura Neto will act as secretary. The chamber serves as an auxiliary body to help manage the instructional phase of legal processes, ensuring cases are properly prepared before being sent to competent authorities. These chambers help dioceses execute letters rogatory from regional or interdiocesan tribunals and assist bishops in administering justice, particularly regarding matrimonial causes.

• Diocese de Cajazeiras inaugurates new Curia Diocesana

  The Diocese de Cajazeiras inaugurated the new Monsenhor Luiz Gualberto de Andrade Diocesan Curia headquarters on September 17 in Cajazeiras. Located on Avenida Joca Claudino within the Centro Diocesano de Pastoral complex, the new facilities were blessed during an evening ceremony. Padre Damião Nunes Viana, Vigário Geral and Moderator of the Diocesan Curia, said the new structure serves as a tool for pastoral organization, the administration of Church property, ecclesial communion, and evangelization. The building is named in honor of Monsenhor Luiz Gualberto de Andrade, a priest whose work was tied to the history of the diocese and the development of the Alto Sertão da Paraíba. The inauguration ceremony included priests, permanent deacons, seminarians, religious men and women, collaborators of the Mitra Diocesana, civil authorities, and members of the community. Luiz Gualberto de Andrade Sobrinho attended to represent the family of the honored Monsenhor.
