History

Based in the western suburbs of Montreal, the Diocese of Valleyfield (Latin: Dioecesis Campivallensis) has served Quebec as a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Montreal since its erection in 1892. Roughly 201,000 baptized Catholics live within its bounds, tended by 48 priests, 17 deacons, 31 religious brothers, and 76 religious sisters. A consolidation in 2008 reduced its 63 parishes to 24.
