Being exempt, it depends directly on the Holy See rather than on any ecclesiastical province, and on the missionary Roman Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. No statistics are available. Its neighbors are its mother diocese Changde, the dioceses of Yuanling 沅陵 and Yichang 宜昌, and the Apostolic Prefectures of Shashi 沙市 and Yueyang 岳陽.
