Latin Church apostolic prefecture seated at Yueyang in Hunan, central China, established on May 7, 1931 on territory split off from the Apostolic Vicariate of Changde. It is exempt, directly dependent on the Holy See and not part of any ecclesiastical province. The prefecture has been vacant since 2012, administered by Archbishop Methodius Qu Ailin of Changsha as apostolic administrator.

History
Seated in Yueyang, Hunan province, central China, the Apostolic Prefecture of Yueyang is a Latin pre-diocesan jurisdiction of the Catholic Church. It is exempt, belonging to no ecclesiastical province and depending directly on the Holy See and its missionary Roman Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. No statistics are available. Its neighbors are its mother diocese Changde, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Puqi 蒲圻, the archdioceses of Nanchang 南昌 and Changsha 長沙, and the Apostolic Prefecture of Lixian 澧縣. The see is vacant, under an Apostolic administrator since 2012.
