Latin-rite apostolic prefecture in Hubei province, China, erected in 1936 from territory of the Apostolic Vicariate of Yichang and entrusted to American Franciscans. It is an exempt jurisdiction directly subject to the Holy See and has been vacant since the death of its only prefect, Fr. Julian Edward Dillon OFM, in 1961.

History
Shashi (Chinese: 沙市; pinyin: Shāshì) forms a district within the main urban area of Jingzhou in Hubei province, China. It sits on the left, northern bank of the Yangtze River, between Yichang and Wuhan.
