Diocese of Como

History

Northern Italy's Diocese of Como (Latin: Dioecesis Comensis) traces its establishment to the Fourth Century. A Latin Church jurisdiction, it serves as a suffragan within the province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Milan, and the Bishop of Como keeps his cathedra in the Como Cathedral. According to local legend, Como owed its conversion to the apostolate of Hermagoras of Aquileia, who died around the year 70.
