The Diocese of Cádiz y Ceuta is a Latin Church diocese in Andalusia and the autonomous city of Ceuta, Spain, suffragan of the Archdiocese of Seville. The see became sede vacante on 22 November 2025 when Pope Leo XIV accepted Bishop Rafael Zornoza's resignation and named Ramón Valdivia Giménez apostolic administrator.

History

A suffragan of the Archdiocese of Seville, the Diocese of Cádiz and Ceuta (Latin: Dioecesis Gadicensis o Gaditanus et Septensis) is a Latin Church diocese of the Catholic Church in Spain. Its territory takes in the civil province of Cádiz south of the Guadalete river, embracing the comarcas of Campo de Gibraltar, La Janda, and Bahía de Cádiz, though most of Puerto de Santa María, lying north of the Guadalete, falls instead to the diocese of Jerez de la Frontera.

  • Parish of San José Artesano receives Iglesia Sostenible award

    The San José Artesano parish in San Fernando received the Sustainable Church Award from the Spanish Episcopal Conference. The award recognizes a project led by the parish economic council to calculate and reduce the community's carbon footprint to reach zero. The project covered the period from 2021 to 2025. Beginning on October 10, 2022, the council calculated direct and indirect emissions for 2021. These results were submitted to the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and were registered in the Registry of carbon footprint, compensation and carbon dioxide absorption projects. The parish has continued this calculation and registration process in following years to manage its resources and facilities.

  • Cáritas Diocesana de Cádiz starts new training actions

    Cáritas Diocesana de Cádiz launched new training programs in September to help unemployed people in social exclusion or vulnerable situations find work. The courses and workshops aim to improve professional skills and increase chances of entering the labor market. Nearly 60 people will participate in the training sessions held at various locations across the diocese. Three courses on social and healthcare assistance for dependent persons will take place in Cádiz, Algeciras, and Paterna de Rivera. Additional training includes two pre-employment workshops in Chiclana de la Frontera and Puerto Real, as well as a course on domestic employment in Cádiz to provide qualifications for home care roles. These programs run alongside existing training in department stores, hospitality internships, and operator training.
