History
Erected on 8 April 1957 and based in the town of Farafangana, the Diocese of Farafangana is a Roman Catholic diocese of the Latin Rite under the Archdiocese of Fianarantsoa in Madagascar. Its territory covers roughly 20,390 km (12,670 mi). In 2004 the diocesan population stood near 900,000, of whom 7.9% were Catholic, served by 36 priests, a ratio of 1,985 Catholics for every 1 priest. Gaetano Di Pietro, SCI has been the bishop since Benjamin Marc Ramaroson, CM became archbishop of Antsiranana.
