History
Erected in November 1979 from territory taken out of the Archdiocese of Besançon, the Diocese of Belfort-Montbéliard (Latin: Dioecesis Belfortiensis-Montis Beligardi; French: Diocèse de Belfort-Montbéliard) is a Latin Church diocese of the Catholic Church in France. It lies in the country's northeast, bordering Switzerland and Germany, and was constituted a suffragan diocese within the ecclesiastical province of Besançon.
