The Archdiocese of Strasbourg is a Latin rite archdiocese covering the Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin departments of Alsace, an ancient see erected in the 4th century and elevated to an archdiocese on 1 June 1988; it is immediately subject to the Holy See and operates under the Alsace-Moselle concordat regime. Its cathedral is the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Strasbourg.

History
First mentioned in 343 AD, the Archdiocese of Strasbourg (Latin: Archidioecesis Argentoratensis o Argentinensis; French: Archidiocèse de Strasbourg; German: Erzbistum Straßburg; Alsatian: Ärzbischofsìtz Strossburi(g)) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or archdiocese of the Catholic Church in France. It is one of nine archbishoprics in France with no suffragan dioceses, and the only archdiocese that is exempt, standing outside the ecclesiastical province of any metropolitan. Pascal Delannoy, installed on 21 April 2024, is the current archbishop.

Pope Leo XIV to visit Metz
Pope Leo XIV will visit Metz on Monday, September 28, as the final stop of his state visit to France. The visit includes a meeting titled "At the Roots of Europe for Peace and Unity" in the birthplace of Robert Schuman, a founding father of the European Union. A delegation from the Fraternité Européenne d’Étudiants, a group dedicated to Schuman, will participate in the meeting. Axel Raynaud, a member of the delegation, stated that young people believe in a continent that promotes peace rather than one functioning merely as a market or administrative system. The Pope's visit to the city also includes a stop at the Metz Cathedral. The trip to France, which runs from September 25 to September 28, also includes visits to Paris and Lourdes.
