It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Madurai, seated at St Mary's Cathedral (Our Lady of Health) in Tiruchirappalli.

History
Tiruchirapalli, also called Trichy, is the seat of this diocese (Latin: Tiruchirapolitan(us)) in the ecclesiastical province of Madurai in India. Its episcopal seat is St. Mary's Cathedral, Tiruchirappalli, known as well as the Cathedral of the Mother of Good Health.
