Latin-rite diocese in northern Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, the newest Korean diocese, erected from the Archdiocese of Seoul on June 24, 2004 by Pope John Paul II and suffragan of the same. Its mother church is the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Mary in Uijeongbu. Bishop Benedictus Son Hee-song was appointed on March 13, 2024.

History

South Korea's newest diocese, Uijeongbu (Latin: Dioecesis Uijongbunensis, also romanized Uijongbu), was erected from the Archdiocese of Seoul on June 24, 2004 by order of Pope John Paul II and remains suffragan to that see. A particular church of the Latin Church, it has as its mother church the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Mary in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi-do.
