The Archdiocese of Ndola is a Latin Rite metropolitan archdiocese covering the Copperbelt Province of Zambia. Originating as an apostolic prefecture in 1938 and made a diocese in 1959, it was elevated to a metropolitan archdiocese in June 2024 with Benjamin S. Phiri as its first archbishop. Its suffragans are Kabwe and Solwezi.

  • First St. Padre Pio Shrine in Zambia’s Ndola Archdiocese a “beacon of hope”: Apostolic Nuncio

    The Catholic Archdiocese of Ndola began construction on its first St. Padre Pio shrine during a groundbreaking ceremony on September 23 in Ganerton, Kitwe. Members of the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin are establishing the shrine to serve as a place for prayer, mercy, and healing for those experiencing suffering or uncertainty. Archbishop Gian Luca Perici, the Apostolic Nuncio to Zambia, presided over the Eucharistic celebration held on the feast day of St. Padre Pio. Archbishop Benjamin Phiri welcomed the Nuncio at the Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport in Ndola before the ceremony. During his homily, Archbishop Perici described the site as holy ground intended for people to meet God and find peace. He noted that the shrine will serve as a beacon of hope for those carrying sickness or worries, drawing inspiration from the life of St. Padre Pio and his experience with the stigmata.
