History

Carved in 1979 from territory of the Archdiocese of Davao, the Diocese of Digos (Latin: Dioecesis Digosensis) is a Latin Catholic diocese in the Philippines that remains a suffragan of that archdiocese, its boundaries unaltered since its founding. The two provinces of Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental lie within its jurisdiction. Guillermo Dela Vega Afable, appointed in 2003, is the current bishop.
