Latin-rite diocese in Silesia, Poland, established as an apostolic administration in 1945 and erected as a diocese on 28 June 1972 from territory of the Archdioceses of Wroclaw and Olomouc. It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Katowice. Its mother church is the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Opole.

History
Opole, a city in the ecclesiastical province of Katowice in Poland, gives its seat to this Latin diocese of the Catholic Church, known in Latin as Dioecesis Opoliensis.
