Latin-rite metropolitan archdiocese in western Poland and the country's oldest see, established in 968 as the missionary diocese of Poland with its seat in Poznan; it was raised to a metropolitan archdiocese on 16 July 1821. Its suffragan is the Diocese of Kalisz. Its mother church is the Archcathedral Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul in Poznan.
