Latin-rite diocese in central Poland erected 25 March 1992 from territory of Czestochowa and neighboring sees; the name recalls the 1818-1925 Diocese of Cuiavia-Kalisz. It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Poznan. Its mother church is the Cathedral of St. Nicholas in Kalisz, with a co-cathedral in Ostrow Wielkopolski.

History
Kalisz, a city within the ecclesiastical province of Poznań in Poland, gives its name and seat to this Latin diocese of the Catholic Church, known in Latin as Dioecesis Calissiensis.
