Latin-rite diocese covering eastern Warsaw (the Praga side of the Vistula) and surrounding territory, erected 25 March 1992 from the Diocese of Plock and the Archdiocese of Warsaw, of which it is a suffragan. Its mother church is the Cathedral Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel and St. Florian, with a co-cathedral of Our Lady of Victory.

History

The eastern part of Warsaw, the Praga side, forms the territory of this Latin Church diocese (Latin: Dioecesis Varsaviensis-Pragensis), within the ecclesiastical province of Warszawa in Poland. Church statistics for 2013 showed about 31.4% attending church at least once a week and about 14.6% receiving communion regularly, that is once a week or more often. The diocese extends over 3,300 km2 (1,300 sq mi).
