The Diocese of Rutana is a Latin Church diocese in southeastern Burundi, erected on 17 January 2009 from territory of the dioceses of Bururi and Ruyigi. It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Gitega and has been led by Bishop Leonidas Nitereka since his consecration in April 2025.

History
Since 15 February 2025 the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rutana in Burundi has been led by Léonidas Nitereka (born 1 September 1960), a Burundian prelate appointed by Pope Francis. Before becoming bishop he served as a priest of the Diocese of Bururi, in Burundi, from 17 August 1986 until 15 February 2025. His episcopal consecration took place at Rutana on 12 April 2025 at the hands of Dieudonné Datonou, Titular Archbishop of Vico Equense.
