History
The parishes of northern Louisiana in the United States are gathered into the Diocese of Shreveport (Latin: Dioecesis Sreveportuensis in Louisiana), a Latin Church diocese and suffragan of the metropolitan Archdiocese of New Orleans. Its mother church is the Cathedral of Saint John Berchmans in Shreveport, and Francis Malone is the current bishop.

Pope Leo XIV appoints Bishop Marshall as Apostolic Administrator to Diocese of Shreveport
Pope Leo XIV appointed Bishop Robert W. Marshall, Jr. as the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Shreveport. Bishop Marshall will continue to serve as the bishop of the Diocese of Alexandria while managing the Shreveport diocese until the next bishop is installed. The appointment follows the resignation of Bishop Francis I. Malone, who submitted his resignation on his 75th birthday more than a year ago. Bishop Malone served as a priest for 49 years and as a bishop for six and a half years. Bishop Marshall announced the decision during a visit to Shreveport.

Bishop Marshall serves as Apostolic Administrator of Diocese of Shreveport
Bishop Robert Marshall will serve as the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Shreveport until a new bishop is appointed and installed. Pope Leo XIV made the appointment, according to a message from Bishop Marshall. Bishop Marshall will continue his current role as the Bishop of Alexandria while ministering to the priests, deacons, religious, and laity of North Louisiana. He noted that his experience serving in the sparsely populated areas of the Diocese of Memphis prepares him for the small towns and communities within the Diocese of Shreveport. In his message, Bishop Marshall stated he intends to learn about the local people and pray for the future appointment of a permanent bishop.
