Happy 70th Anniversary Springfield-Cape Girardeau
The Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau marked its 70th anniversary with a Diocesan Eucharistic Congress. The diocese identified the Eucharist as the foundation of its history and the source of unity for its parishes and missions since its establishment. The diocese was formed from territory previously belonging to the Archdiocese of St. Louis and the Diocese of Kansas City. The diocese noted that Pope Pius XII, who established the diocese, promoted Eucharistic Adoration as an essential practice. The anniversary celebrations also honored the influence of the diocesan patron, Pope Pius X, and St. Rose Philippine Duchesne. The diocese linked the teachings of these figures to the words of Carlo Acutis, a millennial saint.
