History

Already in existence before 590, the Diocese of Vicenza (Latin: Dioecesis Vicentina) is a Latin see of the Catholic Church in the Veneto region of Italy, seated in the capital of the Province of Vicenza, roughly 60 km (37 mi) west of Venice and about 45 km (28 mi) east of Verona. Until 1751 Vicenza answered to the Patriarchate of Aquileia as a suffragan; in that year it passed to the ecclesiastical province of Udine, and in 1818, when the province of Udine was dissolved, it became a suffragan of the Patriarchate of Venice.
