History

Southeastern Vietnam's city of Bà Rịa, in Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu province, is the seat of a Latin rite suffragan diocese (Latin: Dioecesis Barianensis) within the ecclesiastical province of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Saigon, though it depends on the missionary Dicastery for Evangelization. Its cathedral episcopal see is the Cathedral of Mary, Mother of God, dedicated to the Apostles Saint Philip and Saint James.
